THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF SWEATING

Sweating is not only an important part of our physical well-being, but in these modern times of water and airborne pollution, toxic chemicals, artificial preservatives and colorants, heavy metals and poor dietary and exercise habits, the therapeutic internal cleansing of regular sweating is critical to maintain a healthy body and mind.

Hot Dry Air Vs. Steam Room Sauna

The hot, dry air of the sauna is therapeutically different from the steam room sauna.  The dry sauna causes profuse sweating, with the air itself absorbing the sweat.  But the water-saturated air of the steam room doesn’t readily accept the sweat released by the body.  The steam room makes you feel hotter because your sweat doesn’t evaporate and carry away the heat.  The extreme humidity of a steam room also produces a “heavy” feeling air, which is difficult and uncomfortable to breathe in.

Either a sauna or steam room can be used to relax and unwind but the dry sauna clearly has more therapeutic benefits.  The dry sauna has an advantage over a steam room by helping to rid the body of more toxic metals picked up from our environments.  The kidneys take out many of these toxins, but a daily sweat can help reduce the body’s accumulation of lead, mercury, nickel, cadmium, sodium, sulfuric acid and cholesterol.  Caffeine and nicotine are also sweated out.

Weight Loss
The sauna is also more beneficial over the steam room if weight loss is desired, because of the energy expenditure.  Compared to a steam room, the sauna places a far greater demand on the body in terms of using up calories and therefore assists in fat loss.  The heart has to send more blood to the capillaries under the skin.  The energy required for that process is derived from the conversion of fat and carbohydrates to calories.  In addition, the sweat glands just work to produce sweat, which also requires energy and more calories
Safety of Infrared Radient Heat

Radiant heat is simply a form of energy that heats objects directly through a process called conversion, without having to heat the air in between.  Radiant heat is also called Infrared Energy.  It is produced by a far infrared light wave of the electromagnetic spectrum.  This band of light is not visible to human eyes. We can, however, feel this type of light that we perceive as heat.

The sun is the principal source of radiant energy that we experience daily.  Have you every been outside on a partly cloudy spring day of about 50 degrees and felt quite comfortable when the sun was out but felt the tempeture drop when it was obscured by a cloud?

Although the air temperature had not had time to drop, you felt chilled, as the cloud would not let the warming infrared rays through to reach you.  The infrared heat in Infrared Thermal System is just like the heat from the sun or that which our own bodies produce as they burn fuel to keep us warm.  Panels that produce similar infrared rays area used in hospitals to warm newborn babies.
