Studies

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Leavitt studied photography in Germany during the 1960's. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Orient doing various photographic essays.

Chicago Book Clinic Award.

The Art Institute of Chicago purchases leather bound limited edition copies of Fred Leavitts Chicago to give as gifts to visiting dignitaries.

Awarded first commission to a photographer to produce a permanent photographic exhibit for a municipal building. Chicago Council on Fine Arts.
