Bob Bullard was elected in 1998 and re-elected in 2002 without opposition. He brings to the commission a long and impressive history of civil service first as a fire fighter, then as a city manager, and most recently a town councilman and Vice Mayor in
Lake Placid
. He is also an astute businessman and has successfully owned and operated various realty firms.
Mr. Bullard is Chairman of the Central Florida Regional Planning Council and sits on the Board of Directors for the Florida Association of Counties, which recently awarded him the prestigious Presidential Advocacy Award. Bob is a vocal member of the Southern Water Use Caution Area Working Group and he also sits on the Board of Directors for the Heartland Heritage Foundation. He Chairs the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board and is a member of the Highlands County Housing Initiative.
Commissioner Bullard is the recipient of numerous state and national awards for business and corporate management. He was also named Big Brother of the Year by Big Brothers, Big Sisters and in 1990 was awarded the Dal Hall Memorial for Good Government Practices.
He is the commission liaison to the Children’s Services Council, the Highlands County Hospital Board, and he is an active member of the Lake Placid Rotary Club. He lives in
Lake Placid
with his wife Carolyn and together they have four children and seven grandchildren
