Commissioner Maxcy was born and raised in
Highlands
County
. He was elected to the commission in 1992 and is currently the longest serving commissioner on the board. Commissioner Maxcy is a certified
County
Commissioner
through the Florida Counties Foundation. He brings an enormous amount of practical experience in business and local knowledge, having owned and operated his own insurance agency for more than two decades.
Mr. Maxcy is the past president of the Florida Association of Counties, a current board member of the Florida Association of Counties Foundation, and is an active participant in the Florida Small Counties Coalition. He also sits on the Heartland Workforce Investment Board, the Library Advisory Committee, the Health Care Council and Rural Health network, Heartland Library Cooperative, Highlands County Adjustment Board and the Canvassing Board.
Commissioner Maxcy was previously the liaison to the Highlands County Water Advisory Committee, the Historic Preservation Committee, Tourist Development Council, Hospital Board and the Highlands County Insurance Committee.
He lives in Sebring with his wife Jacque and together they have three children. Commissioner Maxcy is an avid outdoorsman.
