Robert obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1990.  He graduated with honors and was employed by the New York based consulting firm of Clark, Patterson, Mossien Engineers and Architects. He worked for this firm for three years, during which time he earned his Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification, and in October, 1993 was hired by the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners as a Civil Engineer II.  Mr. Diefendorf’s experience includes design, permitting, planning, contract preparation and management of County roadways, landfills, water/wastewater treatment facilities, drainage systems and other various public works projects. He holds several utility certifications and is a member of the Florida Association of County Engineers and Road Superintendents (FACERS), American Association of County Engineers (ASCE), American Water Works Association (AWWA) and Florida Rural Water Association (FRWA).  Mr. Diefendorf serves under the authority of the County Engineer, Ramon Gavarrete, P.E., as the utility’s supervisor and was involved with the original purchase of the County’s Placid Utilities Water and Wastewater systems in 1994 and the planning/construction of the County’s Highway Park water system in 1998.  He takes great pride and concern with making sure the County’s utility customers are provided with a high level of service and clean, safe drinking water.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding Placid or Highway Park Utilities please give him a call and give the Utilities Department the opportunity to provide assistance.
